They once had a marriage that was considered illegal… and yet they built a family that defied all odds ❤️

When Hollywood stars Georg Stanford Brown and Tyne Daly fell in love, their relationship challenged a society that wasn’t always ready to accept them.

The couple met while studying at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York. Tyne later recalled looking across the room and thinking, “Oh my goodness, there’s the father of my children.”

Just five months after they started dating, they decided they wanted to spend their lives together.

They married in 1966, when interracial marriage was still illegal in numerous states.

Tyne never viewed their relationship through the categories other people placed on them. She once described it simply as being married to “another member of the human race.”

Their love also made history on television.

When Georg appeared on The Rookies, the couple shared one of television’s early interracial kisses. Network censors wanted the scene removed, but the couple stood their ground — and it aired.

Behind the cameras, they were raising a family.

Their daughters Alisabeth and Kathryne were born in 1967 and 1971, followed by their youngest, Alyxandra, in 1985.

Tyne had always wanted a big family, but balancing motherhood with her demanding acting career wasn’t easy. She even returned to Cagney & Lacey with her youngest daughter, carrying her baby on her back while working.

Eventually, however, the marriage came to an end.

The breakup was painful, and Tyne later spoke about how difficult it had been to balance her career, motherhood and marriage.

But their daughters grew up and found their own paths.

Alisabeth stayed largely out of the spotlight and became a visual artist. Kathryne followed her parents into acting, appearing alongside her mother and working in television.

And their youngest daughter, Alyxandra, chose a completely different life. Known as Xan, she moved away from Hollywood and built a career around baking with her husband in Canada.

None of the three simply followed in their parents’ footsteps.

They became their own women.

And perhaps that’s the most beautiful part of Georg and Tyne’s story.

Their parents broke barriers — but their daughters became the legacy. ❤️

Tyne once shared a photo of all three daughters together and wrote:

“All my women are mothers now! Wow.”

After everything their family had been through, those few words said it all. ❤️
