Eminem has incredible response to claim there’s no word in English that rhymes with ‘silver’

Eminem has once again proved his mastery of wordplay, taking on a viral linguistic challenge that claimed no English word rhymes with “silver” and managing to twist the language in his own uniquely inventive way.

The rap legend was called into action when the hip-hop platform Rock The Bells gave him roughly 24 hours to respond to a widely shared post from “Uber Facts” circulating on X. The post repeated a long-standing belief in English word trivia circles: that “silver” has no true rhyme. For most people, that might be an unsolvable puzzle. For Eminem, who famously spent his youth obsessing over rhymes for words like “orange,” it was exactly the kind of problem he thrives on.

True to form, Slim Shady delivered a rapid-fire stream of slanted rhymes and stretched syllables, bending sounds until they fit his creative scheme. In the freestyle, he rattled off a string of playful, intricate combinations that paired “silver” with everything from “pilfer” and “Bill Burr” to “Wilshire” and “Spielberg,” showcasing his unmatched skill in manipulating language.

The performance ended with a wink to his latest project, his newly produced documentary Stans, turning the rhyme challenge into an impromptu piece of promotion.

That documentary had its own moment in the spotlight this week during its New York City premiere at The Rooftop at Pier 17. Eminem made a surprise appearance at the sold-out screening, greeted by an audience packed with his most devoted fans, fittingly referred to as “stans” after his iconic 2000 song of the same name, TMZ reported.

Speaking to the crowd, Eminem reflected on the lasting cultural impact of “Stan,” admitting he hadn’t anticipated just how deeply it would resonate when he wrote it. Throughout his remarks, he was interrupted by fans shouting declarations of love and gratitude, some telling him his music had saved their lives.

Stans offers an intimate look at Eminem’s career through the lens of his most passionate supporters, combining personal interviews, archival footage, and previously unseen material, according to the Hollywood Reporter. The film uses the story of “Stan” (a fictional account of an obsessive fan) as its thematic anchor, contrasting the dangerous devotion depicted in the song with the genuine loyalty and admiration of real-life followers who have grown alongside the rapper over the decades.

The premiere was accompanied by fan events earlier in the day, including a look-alike contest in SoHo. Enthusiasts arrived dressed as the titular character from the “Stan” music video, complete with bleached blond hair and white tank tops, creating a street scene reminiscent of the early 2000s.

Between answering a linguistic challenge that had stumped word enthusiasts for years and celebrating a documentary dedicated to his most dedicated listeners, Eminem once again demonstrated that his creativity (and his connection to fans) remains as strong as ever.
